Heart of Maine Mobile Veterinary Services brings veterinary care directly to your home, serving dogs, cats, and their families within 50 miles of Dexter, Maine. We provide personalized, low-stress veterinary care in your home. Pricing reflects the time, travel, medical expertise, and individualized attention required for mobile care.

  • We serve dogs and cats within approximately 50 miles of Dexter, Maine.
  • We are not an emergency service. For urgent or critical situations, please contact your nearest emergency veterinary clinic.
  • All non-surgical services are provided in your home. We do not have a mobile veterinary vehicle.
  • Surgical services are performed at our Dexter location and are not mobile.
  • We do not currently offer imaging services such as X-rays or Ultrasound.
  • If desired, please call or text for an estimate prior to scheduling your appointment.
  • Our pricing is periodically updated to reflect rising costs, travel, and the time required to provide high-quality, individualized veterinary care in your home.

House call fees apply to all in-home appointments. This charge is in addition to any services you schedule. This covers travel, vehicle costs, scheduling logistics, and extended appointment times required for in-home care.

What areas do you serve?

We provide mobile veterinary services for dogs and cats within approximately 50 miles of Dexter, Maine.

How does pricing work?

Most appointments include both a service fee and a house call fee. House call fees are based on travel distance from Dexter.

Do you offer emergency services?

No. We are not an emergency veterinary service. If your pet is experiencing an urgent or life-threatening emergency, please contact your nearest emergency veterinary clinic immediately.

Do I need to bring my pet anywhere?

For most services, no. Wellness care, vaccinations, sick visits, end-of-life care, acupuncture, and many other services are performed in your home. Surgical procedures are the exception and are performed at our Dexter location.

Do you provide care in a mobile clinic vehicle?

No. All non-surgical services are performed in your home. We do not have a mobile veterinary vehicle.

What conditions can you treat during a mobile visit?

We can treat many routine medical concerns, including ear infections, skin infections, allergies, urinary tract infections, minor wounds, gastrointestinal upset, and other non-emergency conditions. If your pet requires emergency care, hospitalization, advanced imaging, or specialty services, we may recommend referral to another veterinary facility.

Do you perform surgeries in the home?

No. Surgical procedures are performed at our Dexter location. Most surgical patients begin with an in-home pre-operative examination.

Do you offer X-rays or ultrasound?

At this time, we do not have imaging capabilities such as X-ray or ultrasound.

Can you see multiple pets during one visit?

Yes. We are happy to see multiple pets during the same appointment whenever possible.

Can I request an estimate before scheduling?

Absolutely. Please call or text us if you would like an estimate prior to scheduling your appointment.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, cards, and CareCredit.


We may require a deposit of up to 50% of an estimate upon scheduling of a pet for non-routine procedures or surgery. This will be decided on an individual basis. The remaining balance will be due the day the pet is seen or when the patient is discharged from surgery.

Prescriptions

By law, we do have to examine your pet within the last year to provide any medication. Please do not ask us to fill a prescription for a pet we have not seen. We will be unable to do so until we have an existing relationship with your pet. Please also give us 24 hours to approve any prescriptions requests.
